I promised to be open about my process and what it really takes to build something as a creative. So I’m starting a behind-the-scenes series where I’ll show you how I take an idea from sketch to finished piece. Because having a repeatable process makes creating so much easier over time. Feel free to ask questions, borrow inspiration, or simply follow along with the process.

"It's hard to detect good luck - it looks so much like something you've earned." -Frank A. Clark

For St. Patricks Day, I wanted to create a post for instagram. I knew I wanted to draw a realistic 4 leaf clover. This is a quick video of part of the drawing process.

Then I scanned the sketch into my computer and opened it in Adobe Illustrator (image 1). From there, I turned it into a vector so it could be resized without losing quality (image 2). Simple steps like this save so much time later. Then I brought it into Canva and adjusted the brightness for a softer effect on the Instagram post (image 3).

Then I took it one step further and turned it into a congratulations card.

You can download and print it for free.
