GIVE & TAKE

The healthiest things in nature have a good balance of give & take. Yin and Yang. Breathing in, Breathing out.

I was thinking about this the other day in regards to health. Dis-ease is the lack of ease. You end up unbalanced in some area. For me, right now, my spine is out of balance and causing disharmony in my body. I try to compensate for it but typically end up causing more disharmony in other areas as well. I won't be able to heal until I get help to get back into proper stability & alignment.

We were meant to go through seasons. Seasons of growth, of excitement, of slowing down, of looking inward, of standing out, of just being. And yet, society has put such a strain on us that we get stuck. Stuck in mundane busyness. Just trying to complete the next task to get through the day, to wake up and repeat. Very few people are willing to take a good look at the disharmony of their lives and figure out what is causing the imbalance.

What is bringing you Joy? Peace? or Fulfillment?

I find that I go through seasons of imbalance in my business as well. I will work myself into the ground to meet a deadline I set for myself. And then the shoe drops. Instead of taking a weekend off, it becomes a needed week. or two. Yet when I slow down, I am able to remind myself of my peace. It comes in balance. Give... and take.

“Give and take is the way of the world. But when you give something with compassion and take something with gratitude, you are away from the world and nearer to the supreme power.” -Shunya

I don't believe we were meant to repeat the same day over & over and call it a life.

I love to take some time each fall when the world starts to slow down and evaluate what's working and what could use improvement. Again, balance. It helps me when I start to set my intention for the next quarter. I do this for myself personally and in my business. I know I can't do anything well for others if I'm out of sync.

I had someone ask about a typical day in my business. And I don't really have a "typical" day. I have seasons that are filled with drawing & painting & projects. Others have more computer work & writing. Some are consumed with reading & learning. But I can't spend all of my time learning & never implementing or what would be the point? What works for me, works for me for a time, until I need to adjust the scales & do something different. And I'd suspect that's the same for everyone.

I hope you've found great balance with work & play, seriousness & laughter, and give & take. Your life is beautiful and you have so much value to share.

Warmest Regards,

andrea, give & take
